UM-OCRCC was established to conduct research in the area of oral cancer, associated risk factors, treatment effect and impact of the disease. Since its establishment in August 2005, UM-OCRCC has sustained collaborative research efforts and builds upon the research initiatives of various organizations and institutions involved with oral cancer care throughout the country such as the Ministry of Health Malaysia, Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF), USM, UKM and UiTM.
UM-OCRCC is dedicated to supporting efforts towards the Mouth Cancer Awareness Week. In view of the Week, several campaigns through the mass media are geared towards dissemination of relevant information among the public generally and the oral cancer patients who are trying to gain a better understanding of their illness and their lives.
